My Grandfather’s Uncle (my Great, Great Uncle) Edward Lawlor was declared missing presumed killed at the battle of Ypres.  Born on the 30th October 1883 in Southbank, Middlesbrough he was the second child (of 7) born to my Great Great Grandfather John and my Great Great Grandmother Margaret.  Married in 1905 to Florence they emigrated to Canada in 1910 along with their 2 young children Edward and Margaret.  At the outbreak of the First World War Edward enlisted in the 2nd Battalion The Canadian Infantry and returned to Europe to fight on the front line.  He was killed at some point towards the end of the 2nd battle of Ypres (April 22nd – May 15th, 1915).  His body was never found and he is remembered on the Menin Gate.
