Leonard Gloyn Brett worked in the London head office of the North British and Mercantile Insurance Company. He served as a Rifleman in the London Regiment (Queen's Westminster Rifles) 1st/6th Battalion and was initially reported missing, later presumed killed, after an engagement near Gommecourt. He was 26.
