In 1894 John Lyttle was born in Derryhubert, Co Armagh son of William Lyttle and Ellen Cumberland.. In 1913 John married Mary Elizabeth McAteer, their son Norman was born in 1914, the only child he would see,  his daughter  was born 12th June 1916, John's last letter home asked if the child was a girl to call her Violet, John died on the 1st July 1916, his daughter had been named  Eileen  but she was always know as Violet.
