Husband of Mrs I. G. Hume of Takaka, Tasman District, South Island, New Zealand.

Captain Hume had embarked from New Zealand, for overseas war service in Egypt, on 14 December 1914.

Captain Hume served for 276 days - with the New Zealand Dental Corps  - in Egypt during 1915.

Captain Hume returned to New Zealand due to illness -  on 11 September 1915 - aboard transport/hospital ship "Tahiti".

Captain Hume died at Nelson Hospital, South Island, New Zealand on 31 May 1916 from pulmonary tuberculosis.

Captain Hume is buried at Wakapuaka Cemetery, Nelson City, South Island, New Zealand.

Captain Peter G. Hume is commemorated on the Takaka District War Memorial (1914-1918) - at Takaka, Tasman District, South Island, New Zealand.
