Cpl Frederic Johnson Norfolk Regiment (5306) & Durham Light Infantry (6/5604) b 1895 Brockdish. Fred attended Eye Grammar School on a three year scholarship awarded in 1907. He lived at the post office and school house in Thrandeston

Fred enlisted in Norwich in Nov 1915 a month after his elder brother Walter Goss Johnson perished on board the troopship Royal Edward. He initially served in the Norfolk Regiment and embarked from Folkestone to Boulogne 10/9/16. On 27/9/16 he was transferred to 6th Bn DLI. He was promoted to Corporal 8/10/16 and was killed in action during an attack on the Butte de Warlencourt 5/11/16. He is named on the monument in Thiepval pier 14a face 15c and on the village memorial in Thrandeston.
