I have a postcard from Roderick Ferguson describing Luno as his best friend after both joined the same troop in 4th Canadian Mounted rifles. Both were commissioned into 4th battalion Gordon Highlanders as Second Lieutenants at the same time in early 1916. Ferguson was from Aberdeen but Luno was born and raised in Canada..  Roderick Ferguson, my great uncle died in the assault on Beaumont Hamel on 13th November 1916. Luno  by then a Lieutenant was killed on 20th July 1918 and is buried  inMarfaux military cemetery
