Henry was born 1883 in Sunderland.. He enlisted June 1915 into 7th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment Green Howard's. Henry was one of 300 men digging communication trenches between Delville Wood and High Wood during 4th-12th August. Sadly on Thursday 10th August 1916 Corporal Henry Gooch 24730 was killed in action. He left his wife and 5 young children. Buried Quarry Cemetery Montauban .
