Charles, son of Thomas & Mary Shelton was born in Carlton Nottingham in 1880.  He served with the 16th Battalion Sherwood Foresters, Number 33047, in WWI and died on 9th October 1916 in the Battle of the Somme and is commemorated in the Connaught Cemetery at Thiepval.

Charles and my son are distant cousins, but he may not have been born if Charles had not fought and made the ultimate sacrifice.  Thank you.
