Reuben George Boggis was born in London, the youngest son of my great great grandfather, George Alexander Boggis, who was already in his 70s when Reuben was born.  George Alexander, a widower, had married a music hall performer and Reuben was born shortly afterwards.  Both his parents died before he was 4 years old and he was brought up by his oldest brother and must have joined up to make a life for himself.  He so nearly made it to the end of the war, and I just wonder what he would have made of himself, given the chance.  Instead, he died aged just 20.
