I first saw Wilfreds name on the war memorial in St Patricks church Felling when i was a child in the 50s and thought he must be a relation of mine. My dad always remembered his grandmother Mary Boynes fondly but it was when I was in my 40s when I found out that she had lost her brother in 1918 just before the war ended
