Bernard married Dora Piggott in July of 1916. Their son Eric was born in 1917 and Bernard never saw him as he died in 1918.

Born in Wellingborough,Northants,he worked at the Ideal Clothiers before being called up. He is commemorated on the memorial in All Saints Church,Wellingborough.
