My Uncle Clifford was one of my Dads elder brothers. He died on the first day of the Somme (1st July 1916) under circumstances I can only read about and will never ever be able to fully appreciate. My Dad tried to enrol twice but was 'bought out' on both occasions by my Grandad Richard Morley but just a few weeks after his sixteenth birthday in April 1918 he managed it. Thank God that he never saw action  otherwise.......  RIP Uncle Clifford and thank you.
