Christopher Cardew Codner was my father's uncle. My father was born 2 years after his uncle was killed at the Battle of Arras so he never knew his uncle. My father's aunt also died before he was born so my grandfather was the only surviving son; my father had no cousins. My father served in the Army throughout his working life; it is so sad that he never had the chance to meet his uncle Christopher.
