Charles Henry(Harry) was a much loved father and husband. He worked as a groom in a drapers in Choppington, Northumberland although had been born in Warwickshire. He was a stepfather to Hilda, who also served in WW1, but lost his daughter Jane Elizabeth (Ginny), aged 5, to Meningitis in 1915.

As his body wasn't found his wife Wilhelmina (Winnie) never gave up hope that he would return one day, right up until her death in 1951.

He has been remembered through the generations as his grandson, great grandson and great great grandson have the names Charles Henry.

I have placed his 'poppy' at St Paul's church Choppington where his wife, daughters and granddaughter are buried.

Never forgotten.
