Our great grandad was KIA on 13/5/1915 in the Ypres salient. He has no known grave and is commenerated on the Menin Gate. He had been a regular and fought in the Boar War, returning home to work in Portsmouth Dockyard. He joined up straight away on declaration of war as he was a reservist. He was a calveryman. He was married to Ethel and had a daughter on 31st October 1914 called Mabel, . Ethel and Mabel lived long lives and Mabel only died five years ago. The family lived in Portsmouth and unfortunately were bombed out a few times in the Second World War meaning there are no photographs or medals from our great grandad but my husband and son live on in his memory.
