AB Stainer, aged 22, was serving aboard HMS Black Prince at the Battle of Jutland when she was sunk with the loss of all 857 hands. He is my paternal Great Uncle., and all we have to commemorate him is a wooden plaque with a bronze (?) medallion mounted in the centre, embossed with an image of Britannia and a lion. An inscription around the edge reads "He died for freedom and honour", and his full name of Sidney Herbert Stainer is inscribed in a box to the right of Britannia. We are so very proud to commemorate him.
