Herbert William Rolph was born in 1888 in Flamstead, Hertfordshire. He married Emily May Martin in 1916 and they had a son, Herbert Frederick, my beloved Grandad, on 14th February 1917. On 11th July 1917, he died whilst in active service in Mesopotamia (now Iraq). We have always remembered him and the sacrifice he made.
