Andrew was the only son of Andrew and Jeanie Ganly of Falkirk, Scotland. He was a Falkirk Bairn living in the High Street with his parents and five sisters. Andrew attended Comely Park School. He was a beautiful violinist and his violin is still cared for by his great niece. His sister Jeanie loved to listen to him play and kept his violin for the rest of her life in memory of him.
