WILLIAM EELES was serving as a Lance-Corporal 6th Battalion, The Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Light Infantry when he was killed in action on 27th February 1917. He was aged 32 and his body was never recovered from the field, being commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.

He was the son of John and Fanny Eeles of Mount Pleasant Charlbury, and had worked as a baker's assistant.
