Enlisted in New Tredegar, Monmouthshire, S.Wales (date not known but probably 1915). Died of wounds, aged 23, on 8th April 1916 whilst in 33 Casualty Clearing Station, Bethune. Probably the result of 'normal trench warfare' (shelling, raids, etc) as no 'battle' was recorded around this time in the Battalion's area near Neuve Chapelle. Grave location in Bethune Town Cemetery – III.G.44. Listed on the SWB Roll of Honour.
