In remembrance of Sgt George Herbert John Seville, 16191, 76th Battery, 10th Brigade, Royal Field Artillery; killed in action on 14th April 1915 at the Battle of Shaiba whilst assisting his Commanding Officer at the Artillery Command/Observation Post.  He was 28 years old and son of Alice Martha Seville and Alfred William Herbert Seville, who the very next day re-joined the RFA in response to the news that his son had been killed.  George's brothers Alfred George William Seville and Sydney Herbert Seville also served with the RFA during World War 1, the latter being awarded the DCM. A year or so after George died, Alice and Alfred had another son: Ernest George Seville who was given his middle name in memory of his fallen brother. This tradition was carried through two generations (Ronald George Seville and Antony George Seville) until 2014 when, after almost 100 years, George Ronald Seville was born and named in his memory.
