In 1982 on a visit to France from Australia, with the invaluable assistance of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, I visited Thiepval, near Albert where my uncle's is commemorated by name on the Thiepval Memorial. This was a life changing experience as later we visited the WWI and WWII sites. I had this overwhelming sense of sadness yet was actutely aware of what this enormous sacrifice meant to my life and future generations. Rest in Peace
