Another young man who did his duty and paid the price. His sister, Clara was my grandmother and she ensured Hugh's memory lived on through her grandchildren and similarly he will be remembered by my daughter, his great grand niece. Hugh gave Clara a ring before he left for France. My elder sister now keeps the ring and it will be passed down to future generations so we never forget. God bless Great Uncle Hugh. I wish I had been able to know you and sit on your knee as a child would. If you were anything like my Gran you would have been a wonderful person.xxx
