John Henry Palmer (Jack) was recorded as Missing in Action until around June 1917. He was last seen lying in a trench with severe head wounds. He died soon after. He was a member of the Machine Gun Section. He played football for St Mary's Bible Class and for the Church Institute in Rushden. He was noted for always being relied upon to do his duty in a quiet and unassuming manner.
