Born Adolphus Victor Schuck, Victor changed his name and joined the Army fighting his father's countrymen.  He died of his wounds in September 1916.  Aged 18. 

Victor was the eldest son of Augustus & Clara Schuck.  The spelling of the surname occured sometime prior to WW1.  I'm not sure if my great grandparents or their remaining children ever managed to visit the site where Victor is buried. 

2016 will be the 100th anniversary of Victor's death so I hope to travel to Somme and visit his grave.
