Owen Lewis was part of the IX Corps' 53rd Welsh Infantry Division which included the 158th North Wales Brigade's 1/6th C+A Battalion Royal Welsh Fusiliers.Leaving HMNB Devonport ,Plymouth on 19th July 1915 en route to the Dardenelles via Imbros in Turkey,he would have landed on Sulva Bay 8th or 9th August  1915.On the 10th at 6am the objective was to capture Anafarta HIll.They met with heavy opposition and it is likley that he was wounded here.He died 31st October 1915 in hospital in Alexandria,Egypt from dysentry.The Gallipoli campaign was a disatster.The division was evacuated on 15th December 1915 with only 15% of them surviving.
