Arthur Kenneth (or Ken as he was always known) was the second son of William Burkitt Mitchell and wife Sarah (nee Jordan) of Aldwincle Saint Peter, Northamptonshire.  Ken was a gardener at Lilford Hall in Northamptonshire before service.  In his spare time he rang the bells at the local churches.  There is a memorial to him from The Central Council of Church Bell Ringers.  Ken had an elder brother Charles Francis (known as Frank in adulthood) who survived the First World War with injuries.  Ken also had three other brothers, all whom sadly died in childhood.  They were; Herbert James 1891 – 1891, Arthur Cuthbert 1892 – 1893 and Frank Arthur 1895 – 1896.  Ken died on 3rd September 1918, just ten weeks before the end of the war.  3rd September was also just two days before his eldest brother’s birthday (Frank).  May God Bless them all.
