James was the uncle of my father in law Stuart Thomson. Stuart's father Horace - James brother was the youngest of the family. We as a family's have visited the Thiepval monument several times and seen James name engraved upon it. Seeing the name of a family member brought home to us all the enormity of the sacrifice made by so many ordinary people and left us humbled.
