A letter from the Front.
To his wife Marion Coleman, Natika, Saskatchewan
Dear Madam:-
Although I know you have been informed of your husband's death, I feel it my duty to send you a line of sympathy.
He died on April 24th, of shock, after a terrible burst of fire
from the German guns.
He held so nobly to his post and never shirked until he was rended unconscious by a big shell which exploded near to where he was taking cover. Although he afterwards gained consciousness, I could see he would not last out very long. I cannot tell you how deeply we all mourn his loss.
He is buried in a beautiful spot behind our lines, and I can assure you that his grave will be attended to by us all, for we thought the world of him.
Yours sincerely
Sgt. MacDougall
