I am as far as I'm aware unconnected to Driver David Owen, other than sharing 3 names,an occupation, and my grandparents were named William and Harriet.I have no stories relating to Driver Owen but can imagine he was just an ordinary young man who thought he'd do his duty, stand fast with his mates and make mum and dad proud . I'd guess he did all these things and more, but didn't get the chance to fulfill his life in other ways . Maybe he did have a young family back home and was doing his bit to defend them.Whatever his motivation, he went, but never came back . I'm not sure I'd be able to do that, maybe I could . Thank god I've never had to find out. I will never forget Driver David John Owen, partly because of our similarities, but by far, because of our differences. If a friend of the family or one of Davids relations reads this and prefers to leave a more fitting memorial, please feel free to ignore mine . I hope someone can come along and leave stories of a young mans heroics with faded sepia photographs or just some fond memories of stories about great-grandad.Whatever they may be at least he will be remembered. That will surely be more than anyone could say of me in a hundred years time. Thank you Driver Owen
