My great grandfather (on my mother's side Christina Hardie Mennucci) was Romolo Mennucci from Bagni di Lucca born 1890 and emigrated to Paisley in Scotland around 1900, His father was Michele Mennucci who I believe was a Publican and his mother was Rachele Mennucci nee Pellegrini. Romolo listed this as his father's occupation on his marriage certificate to Mary Caldwell my great grandmother - the marriage took place on October 8th 1902 at St Mary's Catholic Church Paisley. They had six children. Romolo died of shrapnel wounds on the Western Front on September 7th 1918 and is buried at Bac du Sud military cemetery Bailleulval, Pas du Calais - He was a Gunner in the Royal Garrison Artilllery. Romolo was related to Canon Professor Florido Mennucci 22/March 1870 to 25/December 1931 - this may have been his brother. My grandfather Andrew Mennucci went to Lucca in the fifties and brought back a small card announcing Florido's death gifted from a relation in Lucca called Irmie. MyGrandfather died in 1965
