My Great Grandmother was Dorothy White (nee Sage). She and Billy were friends, although we understand that they were unofficially engaged. When he died he left all his personal belongings to her which amounted to six pounds, nineteen shillings and two pence. Billy was an orphan and only had an Aunt for family. After his death Dorothy joined the women's Auxillary Core in memory of his death. She was underage and lied to get in. It was when she was in France that she met the man who became my Great Grandfather, so in a sense I owe my life to Billy. He has no other family, but he will not be forgotten.
