Our old house in Swingfield has been extended many times over the years and we started another alteration in 2011. In December 2011 to be precise, our builders found a wood panel in the roof space with the names of four men who had worked on the house in December 1911. The names included those of Theodore Thomas Eldridge and John Eldridge (either his father or brother - both were John and both were carpenters). I believe Thomas became a policeman and lived in Folkestone in 1911 so he may have just been helping out his father or brother at that time. The panel has been saved and will be installed back in the roof space for others to find in the future.
