George Crosby Smith was born 24th  July 1878 in Christchurch New Zealand.  His parents were John Wesley Smith (born in Somerset) and Mayy Ann nee Beaumonte (Born England)  I have a photo of the Battalian but no scanner as yet.  Ceorge's brother Percy Harold Smith b. March 27th 1884 in ChCh .NZ died 1917. another brother Arthur stanley Smith b. 6th July in ChCh. NZ died  25th November 1918. All the sons of the family died.  One son die in ChCh 1893, the others at war.
