Alfred Edward Fleet was the second born child in a family of six, the first of three brothers.  He joined up successfully in Lismore, New South Wales under the name of Arthur Edward Fleet.  I believed he had tried a couple of times before that, but for some reason was unsuccessful.  He was killed instantly by what was described as a "whizz bang".  He was never formally laid to rest.  His younger brother Francis John Moore Fleet, who was in the 15th Infantry Battalion found out about his brothers death 5 weeks later by H. Connell Number 2470 31st Battalion.
