Herbert Llewellyn was descended from both Protestant (Planter's stock) and Catholic in Ireland. He heeded the call to enlist, although his father William was reluctant for him to go to the front. Within a few weeks of being transported to the Dardanelles, he was killed in action at Gallipoli. Herbert's nephews William Waugh (my father), Bert Waugh and his niece Hannah often spoke about him. Herbert, his brothers and sisters were gifted artistically and musically, gifts which have been passed down to his many descendants.
