Alfred Sprowson was born in 1887 in Styal, Cheshire, to Robert Sprowson and Ellen Walter. He had four brothers and three sisters, Nelly was my great Grandmother and was one year older then him. He was a private in the 1st Battalion Border Regiment, and fort in Gallipoli, Turkey. He was injured and transported to Alexandria on a hospital ship which he died on. He is buried in the Cairo War Memorial Cemetery, and his name is remembered with honours on the cenotaph in his village of Styal, Cheshire. The national trust Styal mill has remembered Alfred this year in the World War 1 commemorations on display. He will never be forgotten in our families.
