William was born at King's Lynn, Norfolk and immigrated to Australia in 1911. In March 1915 he joined the AIF 17th Battalion   and in May 1915 his unit embarked from Sydney. He fought in Gallipolli and the Western Front. He died 3 October 1918 on the Beaurevoir Line and was buried at Joncourt. William was my Great Uncle, he will always remain in my heart. I wish I could have met him and thanked him. Such brave men. May they rest in peace.
