When my grandmother was married just before war broke out, Donald was a cabinet maker and made my grandmother an oak bedstead with a feather mattress as a wedding present. We still have the bedstead and it's been used by his nephew, great niece and now by his great great nephew. We may have no details of his time in action but we have a living memory of the man he was, a hardworking skilled cabinet maker that left a loving family.
