Born in 1885 in Shepperton Middlesex
Joined the Army RGA at Hounslow Barracks in 1902 by adding a year to his age. Served in Ireland and Malta left aftr his 3 year Service
Was then called up for Army Service when War broke out in 1914 and was part of The British Expeditionary Force.
He died on 19th October 1917 from gas poisioning from a shell in a Clearing Station near Godewaersvelde in France.
He is buried in Godewaersvelde British Cemetry in France
He left a wife and five young children the oldest Son was 10 years old Twin Daughters aged 7 years another son aged 3 and 1 year old daughter.
He was my Grandfather, my Mother Lucy Violet Leonard one of his twin daughters.
Perhaps one day we will realise what a tragic waste war is.
