Merry and Bright to the Last

The photo given herewith is that of Pte George Archibald Bingley, Sherwood Forester, who was killed on June 20th last as previously recorded. He was only 19 years of age. His home was at 20 Recreation Street, Mansfield and his parents have received a symathy letter from a chum of his, Pte J Dove of the Sherwood Foresters. Writing from a convalescent camp in Rouen, Pte Dove says that a friend of his was with the deceased a few minutes before he was hit and that he was merry and bright to the last. A wounded comrade who was with Pte Dove in camp saw him buried in a proper manner.  Pte Dove says that the deceased was well respected throughout the 8th Battalion, Sherwood Foresters and it was a pleasure to be in his company in or out of the trenches.
