Leslie J Burton worked at Messrs Rowbottoms 'Journal' office in Alfreton as a compositor before he enlisted with the 1st Battalion in November 1914. He was twenty years of age and lived at Quarry Road, Somercotes.. He had fought at Neuve Chappelle and died as a result of wounds received in action.
