Edd ( Edward 1893 – 1917 was one of three Allen Brothers from South London who went to War .My Grandfather, his elder Brother Joe A (Joseph Arthur (1890 – 1929)) was gassed died blind as a result . His younger Clare ( Alfred Clarence 1895 - 1970)) survived but was scarred mentally. Edd paid the ultimate price during the third Battle of Ypres on 10 August 1917 . I never knew any of them but they will never be forgotten and remembered in perpetuity by successive generations.
