Percy, I am not aware of the circumstances of your death, but, as a former member of the Lincolns myself, I am pleased to be given this opportunity to salute you as a brave young NCO who lost his life in the service of his country. I trust that the Guard of Honour at your funeral service fired the traditional salute to a fallen comrade. You were laid to rest in Hargicourt Cemetery, where 18 other members of our regiment were buried. This area of France suffered severely from the fighting, and we read that the Cemetery there was mostly used by the 34th Division. In addition to your gravestone at Hargicourt, I also trust that you were commemorated on your home town war memorial. My sympathy to your parents and other relatives who mourned your sacrifice.  Rest in Peace.  Harry.
