Henry was born in 1885 the only son of Christopher and Eleanor Oddy. Before the war he had worked as a cotton spinner. He enlisted on the 10th of December 1915, but he wasn't mobilised until February 1917. He was killed in action on the 20th September 1917 and he is buried at the Tyne Cott cemetary. Some of his effects were returned to his mother in January 1916. These were a wallet, a photo, a safety razor, a steel mirror and a cigarette case.
