I went to Belgium with my Mum and Dad as part of Mercat International Tours 100 year Christmas Truce Commemoration. We walked from Mesines to Prowse Point Cemetary by torchlight on Christmas Eve and then re-enacted the start of the Truce by singing the same carols they did 100 years ago. We were then asked to give someone a poppy as a present and I chose Private Goodhead. He died just before Christmas so he might have been buried during the Truce as they made time to bury their dead and have a joint ceremony with the Germans. On Christmas day we played football in front of the Irish Peace Tower. I remember Private Goodhead and what he did for me! Peter Owen Dunblane aged 6 years.
