L/Cpl. Ernest Jacklin, 16778, 11th Notts. & Derby Regiment who was shot and killed by a sniper on 22nd September 1915  was aged 25. Captain A.E. Brennan passed on the news of his death to his wife, who was sick in hospital at the time. He had been with the regiment for 12 months.
