Bryant Wynne Yorke-Lodge was the son of Revd John Assheton Brownlow Yorke Lodge and Minnie, formerly Thomas, the daughter of Elizabeth Annie Thomas (nee Bryant), who was later married to Christian Rosted. One of Elizabeth Annie and Christian's daughters, Alice, married Henry H. Hammond and is the maternal grandmother of my wife, Clare M. H. Weiner. Bryant had brothers: one was Brownlow Meyrick Yorke Lodge (born 1905). Bryant won the Military Cross: "2nd Lt. Bryant Wynne Yorke-Lodge, Lan. Fus. For conspicuous gallantry when on special night patrol. He most skilfully led his party to the point from which an assault was made, although not having previously traversed the ground. Also he gallantly led a party of six men against two listening posts in the face of fire directed at him from the enemy occupying the posts. Having forced them to vacate the posts, he pursued them to the enemy wire entanglements, where he grappled with one and took him prisoner." (Supplement to the London Gazett, 12 March, 1917)
