Frank, I too was a Lance Corporal in the Lincolns when I did my National Service, but it was in peacetime, not wartime. I am not aware of the circumstances of your death, but at least I learned how to salute when I was in Khaki, so I now salute you as a brave soldier who died in the service of his country. I do hope that the Depot provided you with a Guard of Honour at your funeral, who fired the traditional salute to a fallen comrade.
