My grandmother, Mary Ann Bootham, talked about her brother Samuel, unfortunately she didn't know where he was buried. Her other brother, Herbert Bootham, was wounded twice, the second time losing a leg. Her step brother, Clifford Hodson, was also killed in WW1 and is buried at Mailly Wood Cemetery. After Samuel was killed my grandmother, joined the Mechanical Transport Corps and served in France and Belgium. I have her service records and photos of her in service. About 16 years ago I found out where her brothers were buried and have taken wreaths to their graves each of the last 15years. My daughter and grandchildren have also been. It is very emotional as I know my wonderful grandmother would have been so proud and we do this pilgrimage on her behalf.
